FLOODSAFE CARE
A simple, offline-first digital tool for Lady Health Workers. It tracks every pregnant woman and young child who is due for care, raises flood alerts for at-risk villages, sends SMS to families, and follows each case until care is received — even when families move to camps or relatives.
The Problem
When floods hit, routine health services break down. Families leave their homes for relief camps or relatives, paper registers are lost or left behind, and health workers lose track of who is due for vaccines, antenatal check-ups or delivery. The women and children who most need care are the easiest to miss.
What FloodSafe Care Does
Six core features, built around the daily work of Lady Health Workers and the realities of a flood emergency.
Offline registration with consent
LHWs register households, pregnant women and children under 2 without internet. Consent is recorded for every person. Data syncs automatically when a signal returns.
Automatic due lists
Vaccine due dates follow the EPI Pakistan schedule; antenatal visits are calculated from the expected delivery date. Each LHW sees who is overdue, due this week and coming up.
Flood alert trigger
A supervisor marks villages as under flood alert. The system instantly lists every mother and child there who needs care in the next 30 days, plus women near delivery.
SMS alerts
On a flood alert, families receive an SMS with who needs care and their LHW’s contact, and each LHW gets a summary of their clients at risk.
Referral & completion tracking
LHWs refer women and children to a named facility or health camp. Care is confirmed by the LHW or the facility, so every referral ends as completed or missed.
Follows displaced families
If a family moves, the LHW records the new camp or village. The case becomes visible to the camp and to the LHW covering that area, so care continues.
How It Works
From registration to confirmed care in three steps.
Register & track
LHWs register families on their phone during home visits. The app keeps each worker’s due list up to date, online or offline.
Alert when floods come
When a flood warning is issued, the supervisor triggers an alert. Everyone due for care in the risk area is listed and SMS go out.
Refer & confirm care
Women and children are referred to facilities or camps, and the dashboard shows what was completed, missed or still open — by village and by LHW.
Who Uses It
Each user sees only what they need. Families do not need a phone app — they receive SMS.
| User | Uses | Can do |
|---|---|---|
| Lady Health Worker / vaccinator | Mobile app (offline) | Register mothers and children with consent, see their own due list, record visits, create referrals, report displacement |
| Supervisor | Mobile app & dashboard | See all LHWs in assigned union councils, follow up overdue cases, trigger flood alerts |
| Health facility / camp focal person | Dashboard | Receive referrals and confirm when care is given |
| Administrator | Dashboard | Manage users, villages and facilities, view the map and statistics, export data to Excel |
